エルエアで滞在制作を行ったアーティストからの寄稿文を紹介します。今回の記事は2026年1月5日（月）から 3月29日（日）の期間中滞在した日本画家・アーティストの小林明日香(Kobayashi Asuka)さん。
3ヶ月の滞在を経てアーティストの見たものや感じたこと――

皮革という新しい素材と格闘し、実験した3ヶ月は作家として確実に大きな経験となりました。

美しく、素朴で雑然とした市川沿いを何度も散歩しながら高木地区や皮革のことを考え、タンナーから聞こえてくる「たいこ」の響くような音や独特な香りに刺激されながら、どうにかして私の3ヶ月の生活で体感したものを混ぜ合わせたような作品にしたいと思いました。

滞在中は、慣れない環境と素材に苦戦したことのほうが多かったと思います。
しかし、これほど1つの素材について考え続けた期間はありませんでした。
そして周囲には、何年もこの素材に関わり続けたタンナーがあり、全てが皮革に囲まれた日々でした。

この素晴らしい環境に感謝と、そしてこれからの継続と発展を願っています。

The three months I spent struggling with and experimenting with the new material of leather became a truly significant experience for me as an artist.

While repeatedly walking along the Ichikawa River—beautiful, rustic, and somewhat untamed—I found myself constantly thinking about the Takagi area and leather. Inspired by the resonant, drum-like sounds coming from the tanneries and their distinctive smells, I wanted to create a work that somehow blended together everything I experienced during these three months.

During the residency, I often found myself challenged by the unfamiliar environment and materials. However, I have never spent such an extended period thinking so deeply about a single material. I was surrounded by tanneries where people have worked with leather for many years, and my days were immersed entirely in this material.

I am deeply grateful for this wonderful environment, and I sincerely hope for its continued growth and development in the future.
